Since his early childhood, sitting in rocking chairs that decked the porches, Di Shawn has always been fascinated with the stories his family elders shared with him about their childhoods and ancestors. These stories eventually became the very thing that motivated him to become an Afro-centric genealogist and a cultural and ancestral historian. He’s created and curated content for Ancestry.com as a contributor, and as a curator in the field. He is presently a part of the team and staff of African Anecstry, helping people discover their identity, which is a crucial ingredient to understaing the recipe of who they are. Di Shawn sees sharing his journey in discovering the recipe of who he is as a way to connect with people and inspiring them to develop a stronger sense of belonging and exploring the answer of why they are who they are. He is enthusiastic about the traditions, histories, and foods of his ancestors, who originated both in Africa and Europe. He is an actor, playwright, YouTuber, songwriter, and director. He and his wife are co-founders of Behind The Veil Productions LLC, an award-nominated production company for which he serves as president. He also serves as pastor of Love And Truth Ministries.
